“I always thought it’s a very cool model to combine very well-known, almost legendary players with completely new talent on the same record. I love that scenario. It’s not a format that many people have followed before, but I’ve always considered it a fascinating experiment, and a way to create some great sounds.” ..Lee Ritenour

Fourplay – Esprit De Four

Featuring “Put Our Hearts Together,” Bob James’ tribute to the victims of the devastating tsunami that struck Japan in March 2011

When it comes to making music, four is often the magic number. From the Beatles to JQ, many legendary quartets have made their mark in the classical, pop and jazz traditions. Maybe it’s the idea of four talented individuals, each approaching the other three from a unique perspective – like inspired travelers hailing from equidistant coordinates on a map – and bringing all of their talents to bear at a single point. Maybe it’s just the sheer mathematical symmetry and balance of the number itself.

The End of an Era – CafeJazz closes on show #650

Ted Hasiuk will be turning off the lights in the old cafe after the show this weekend. It will have been a 15 year, 650 show run for Ted and after that many shows it’s understandable that a person may want a break. City Sounds Radio has carried this programming for a little less than half of the total time and in the course of our tenure with CafeJazz, we picked up After Hours which Ted offered as an evening continuation of the main program. We will surely feel the loss of these quality productions.

Ted’s final comments are in the show notes on the middle of the page as always. I have provided an additional link to the history of CafeJazz which is reprinted from Ted’s Jazzlynx website.

A continuation of the morning Cafe Jazz program hosted by Ted Hasiuk. Ted provides some great jazz listening for your evening enjoyment.
This is a weekly syndicated program eminating from Canada and offered by Ted Hasuik. Ted and Cafe Jazz have been nominated for several smooth jazz awards over the years.
This is the weekly Groove Jazz Music Top 30 Chart for internet radio airplay. It’s updated weekly and reflects the hottest smooth jazz airplayed tracks on the internet.
